DEM Party Istanbul MP Özgül Saki called on all social opposition to stand in solidarity against the proposed draft law during her speech in the General Assembly on March 13.

DEM Party Istanbul MP Özgül Saki spoke in the General Assembly on March 13, when the Cybersecurity Law Proposal was accepted and became law.
In her speech, Saki also brought the draft law proposing changes to the Civil Code and Criminal Code that would be anti-LGBTI+ to the parliament’s agenda.
Saki stated that the AKP is passing laws to secure its grip on power and said:
“On March 8, many women were detained. Eğitim-Sen has been teaching gender equality for 10 years. This year, it was considered a crime. Teachers in this society are not safe either. In the operation against the HDK, many of our friends are in Silivri. They are not safe either. We say that all groups who want to live equally and freely need democracy and peace.”
Saki emphasized that all social opposition should oppose the anti-LGBTI+ law proposal draft, stating:
“There was a Fourth Judicial Package Strategy Document, and based on that document, a new draft is being prepared—though we don’t know which corridors it’s being prepared in. We know it hasn’t even come to the committee yet. According to the new law proposal reported in the media, anyone whose actions and behaviors do not align with their biological sex or general morality will face imprisonment. These issues do not only concern LGBTI+ individuals or women. It’s an effort to build a new anti-democratic, fascist, authoritarian society, and the entire purpose of this construction is to suppress all social opposition to ensure the continuity of the presidential government system and the AKP’s rule.”
