Pink-Collars gathered in İzmir on March 2nd.

Pink-Collars İzmir Trade Union Group is being set up Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Pink Collars, a group dedicated to protecting the rights of LGBTI+ workers and improving their representation within trade unions, met with women and LGBTI+ rights activists within trade unions. The meeting served as a platform to discuss ongoing initiatives and address the pressing needs of the community.

During the meeting, participants delved into topics concerning raising awareness about the challenges faced by LGBTI+ individuals in the workplace within the trade union movement. They also explored strategies for generating solutions and advocating for the evolution of trade unions. Specific issues addressed included creating inclusive spaces within unions for LGBTI+ individuals who may encounter barriers due to homophobic and transphobic attitudes, as well as facilitating gender trainings and clarifying complaint procedures for LGBTI+ union members.

During the meeting, plans were made to set up the Pink Collars Izmir Union Group, with the intention of addressing the issues faced by LGBTI+ individuals in the workplace. This initiative aims to activate the existing LGBTI+ Commission within the union, thereby working to eliminate the challenges of secrecy, invisibility, and job insecurity experienced by LGBTI+ workers.

Pink Collars will further engage with trade unions in Ankara, Istanbul, Adana, and Mersin through continued meetings. Upcoming visits are scheduled for Mersin on March 15th and Adana on March 16th.
