One of the activities, which prioritize 10th METU Pride March conducted by METU LGBTİQAA+, was Queer Cartoon Workshop.
Queer Cartoon Workshop was in progress at METU as a part of Pride events, just before the 10th METU Pride March, which will be carried out on June 10 by METU LGBTİQAA+ Solidarity.
The workshop, which was organized on June 8, was conducted by illustrator Melis Yılmaz, Bartu and Aslı Alpar from Kaos GL. The concepts like cartoon, humor, and comic were hashed out; the comic perception of the heteropatriarchal gender binary system was brought into discussion within the context of the workshop.
Following the discussion about what queer comic is, basic techniques of cartooning were shown.
The workshop came to a close after each participant completed their own cartoon.
