In the Friday sermon of the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), LGBTI+ persons were again targeted. On January 10, Diyanet devoted its entire sermon titled “Protecting the nature is to protect the family” to target LGBTI+s, and this time targeted LGBTI+s in its sermon on “privacy”.

In the sermon of the Diyanet dated 14th February, the expression “desexualization” used by the government against LGBTI+ persons was used. In the sermon read in all mosques in Turkey, it was stated as follows:

“Unfortunately, some of the means of communication such as television, radio, newspapers and social media, which should protect our national and spiritual values and carry them into the future, prepare the ground for the spread of evil and the normalization of harams such as adultery, alcohol and gambling. Some TV series, cartoons and advertisements encourage body exposure, moral perversions and desexualization.”
