TGS, whose logo was attached, without their permission, to the poster of the hate rally planned to be held in Antep, said: “It is not possible for TGS, which has an LGBTI+ Commission and brought a lawsuit against the withdrawal of İstanbul Convention, to be part of this kind of hateful actions.”

A new call was announced for anti-LGBTI+ hate rallies, which has been spreading among the provinces, this time in Antep. The logos of a great deal of institutions were attached to the poster of the hate rally, which will be held under the title: “Gaziantep Great Family March” and with the call “Protect Your Family and Generation against LGBT Imposition of Global Gangs” on November 13th.

Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS) was one of institutions, whose logo was attached to the poster of the call. It turned out that the Union, which has a Woman and LGBTI+ Commission, was not aware of that. The union, whose logo was attached to the hate rally call without their permission, took action in order to remove its logo from the advertisements.

TGS İstanbul Branch Chair Banu Tuna, stated that they have realized the fact thanks to the members of the secretariat of Woman and LGBTI+ Commissions. Regarding the usage of their logo, without receiving permission, on the poster of hate rally, Tuna told KaosGL.org:

“We realized the fact this morning, thanks to the members of the secretariat of Woman and LGBTI+ Commissions. Surely, I got fighting mad. We immediately informed the central office and all administrators. This is absolutely outside our knowledge and support. It is not possible for TGS, which has an LGBTI+ Commission, includes ILO Convention No. 190 to the collective bargaining agreements and brought a lawsuit against the withdrawal of İstanbul Convention, be part of these kind of hateful actions. We have taken immediate action to remove our logo from these posters.”
