Social Policy Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association (SPoD) published the report titled “From 2015 to Today Prohibitions on Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Marches”.

The report, prepared by SPoD Law and Access to Justice Coordinator Attorney Umut Rojda Yıldırım, is a synoptic outline of violation of rights against Istanbul Pride Marches from 2015 to 2022.

The association announces the publication as: “The story of every LGBTI+, who could not participate in Pride Marches for 7 years, who was subjected to police attacks and who was tried with unjust lawsuits is actually between the lines of this report.”

Remarking that they utilized the archive of KaosGL.org, annual human rights monitoring reports of Kaos GL Association and Special Bulletin prepared by the Association for Monitoring Equal Rights during the preparation process of the report, SPoD says: “This report can only be a part of the state-sponsored and originated vortex of hate that has been rising against LGBTI+ persons since 2015.”

The report, which begins with the history of LGBTI+ Pride Marches in Turkey and the world, goes on with the beginning of the bans. All banned Pride Marches since 2015, legal actions against the prohibition decisions and the court decisions are discussed within the scope of the report.
