Despite purposing gender equality, CHP’s Denizli Merkezefendi Municipality keeps silent against the hatred policy of AKP and MHP, the one who stood by LGBTI+s was a journalist.

“They breed bad blood into the society by stigmatizing people as ‘sick’” Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

The sexist and homophobic objections of Justice and Development Party (AKP) members against Gender Equality studies of Republican People’s Party (CHP) municipalities have recently been experienced in Denizli Merkezefendi Municipality.

The “affirmative votes” of CHP and three independent members felt short for the approval of the regulation regarding Gender Equality Unit, which was brought in the parliament in order to make women financially independent and protect them against violence, by the municipality. While the members of İYİ Party members refrained from a vote, the regulation was rejected with the votes of AKP and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) members.

The members of AKP and MHP were not satisfied with opposing the inclusion of the Relatives of Martyrs and Veterans Unit and Gender Equality Unit within the context of the same regulation, they cut across all boundaries in hate speech: “LGBTI persons are mentally and psychologically sick.”

The opposition of AKP members, who are the representatives of discriminatory conservative policy that disregards LGBTI+ existence and their right to city, against the gender equality studies at municipal councils had last experienced in İstanbul Esenyurt Municipal Council.
