Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TİHEK), decided on the application related to Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül’s statements: “Some posts are being shared claiming that deviant events would be conducted in Gaziantep. There isn’t any permission or an application about these claims received by the Governorship. And it isn’t possible to permit…”

TİHEK rejected the application of activists from Antep Queer LGBTI+ Solidarity and Community.  The institution cited the absence of “sexual orientation and gender identity based discrimination” at the Law on the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye as a justification of the decision.

In recent years, an application of a trans women due to being exposed to discrimination in a hotel was also rejected by TİHEK, introducing that the institution isn’t entitled to investigate a “gender identity” based discrimination.
