Istanbul Trans Pride Week Committee hung a banner at Cihangir Car Park to protest the arrest of KaosGL.org Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar and LGBTI+ rights activist Erkin.
On 18 February, KaosGL.org Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar was arrested by the 6th Criminal Judicature of Peace after being detained from her home in Ankara as part of the operation against the Peoples' Democratic Congress. Erkin Barın Göylüler, who works in the field of LGBTI+ rights, KaosGL.org writer Ayşe Panuş and journalists Elif Akgül and Ercüment Akdeniz are among those arrested.
The 11th Istanbul Trans Pride Week Committee hung a banner at Cihangir Car Park to protest the arrest of KaosGL.org Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar and LGBTI+ activist Erkin. ‘We will take our friends Erkin and Yıldız from the LGBTI+ struggle! HDK is not alone!’ the committee said in a post on its social media account:
"After the operation against HDK, 35 people were arrested, including our travelling companions Yıldız and Erkin. Your arrests and detentions are futile! We announce from Cihangir Car Park: We will take our friends Erkin and Yıldız from the LGBTI+ struggle. And HDK is not alone! All arrests should be released immediately! The insistence on equal life cannot be judged, we insist on equal life!"
