For the “Symposium Against Discriminations”, unionists from Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey are gathering in Ankara for the labour rights of LGBTs.
 
During the “Symposium Against Discriminations”, organized by Kaos GL during the International Human Rights Day, the access of LGBTs to the health and labour rights will be on the table.
 
The Symposium will take place on 15-16 December 2012 at the Ankara Bar Association, open to all audiences. Panelists from Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey will speak on how the union movements and LGBT rights are overlapping.
Unionists from Education International (Belgium), TIE-Netherlands (The Netherlands), AbvaKabo FNV Union (The Netherlands), The Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions (KESK – Turkey), Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK-Turkey) and Birleşik Metal-İş Union will come together at the Symposium.
 
Labour Right: Labour Life, Employment and Union Movement
 
The first forum on the kinds of discriminations LGBTs workers face at workplace will be discussed in the forum “Labour Right: Labour Life, Employment and Union Movement” on December 15th, Saturday between 15:00-16:30.
 
Moderated by Hakan Ataman, a human rights defender, Labour Rights Panel will also host the CHP Istanbul Parliamentarian Ayşe Eser Danışoğlu as well as the unionists:
 
Rebeca Sevilla from the umbrella organization of education unions Education International, Canan Çalağan from The Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions (KESK), Kıvanç Eliaçık from Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) and Eyüp Özer from Birleşik Metal-İş Union.
 
Miekie Awater, Lili Brouwers, Jan Molenaar and Judith Wetserhoek from the lasgest workers union in the Netherlands AbvaKabo FNV Union and Marten van den Berge from TIE-Netherlands will also be present at the panel in Ankara.
 
Education Right: Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity
 
The Education Panel, taking place on December 16th between 15:00-16:30 with the title “Education Right: Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” will host the following panelists:
 
Rebeca Sevilla from Education International, Onyii Udegbe from Griffin Center in Canada, Gillian Brien from BeLonG To in Ireland, Betül Korkut from Eğitim-Sen Headquarter and İlksen Dinçtürk from Ankara University.
 
Right to Health: From Illness to Demanding Rigths - The Journey of Homosexuality
 
The last Forum of the Symposium will take place on December 16th between 17:00-18:30 with the title “Right to Health: From Illness to Demanding Rigths - The Journey of Homosexuality”.
 
The panel will host the following panelists with the moderation of Assistant Prof. Ayşe Devrim Çıngı Başterzi, Mersin University Medicine Faculty:
 
CHP Manisa Parliamentarian Özgür Özel,  Zülfikar Kartal Akçay from SES Union, Tess Vo from Griffin Center in Canada, Assistant Prof. Osman Elbek from Adnan Menderes University Medicine Faculty and Assistant Prof. Tuğrul Erbaydar from Ankara University Medicine Faculty.
