HRA (Human Rights Association) and HRFT (Human Rights Foundation of Turkey) draw attention to the fact that the authorities support the anti- LGBTI rallies in Turkey in power

Violence against the LGBTI community in Turkey escalates Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

HRA and HRFT issued a joint press statement prior to December 10, Human Rights Day.

As a result of the polarizing state policies that consider human rights issues within the context security issues, Turkey has faced quite a few human rights violations in the year 2002. The state has failed to fulfill its responsibility in protecting its citizens and in preventing violence against LGBTI community. Let alone protection, the right to peacefully assemble has been violated by state and its forces.

In the aftermath of the decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention, there have been reports of escalating violence against the LGBTI community in Turkey.  The state has perpetuated existing discrimination through forbidding peaceful assemblies, breaking up attempted marches and detaining dozens of people, torture, and maltreatment, and providing support for the anti-LGBTI rallies. Unfortunately the lives of the LGBTI community in Turkey are ignored.
