Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former İstanbul MP Hüda Kaya was arrested on November 1st. Kaya, who was detained at Istanbul airport on the orders of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, was arrested in an investigation initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Ankara 4th Criminal Court of Peace has issued an arrest warrant against Hüda Kaya. It is stated that the investigation against Kaya was opened within the framework of the Kobani case.

Kaya’s arrest warrant was issued on World Kobani Day. World Kobani Day was established to commemorate the liberation of Kobani from ISIS.

Following the arrest warrant Kaya said: “My heart is always with peace, with hope, with you. The greatest adoration is the defense of the right.”

Kaya, who was one of the few people to defend LGBTI+ rights in parliament and on the streets when she was a deputy, received support from Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week.

The Pride Week Committee shared a photo of Kaya in the rainbow dress she wore to protest against anti-LGBTI+ hatred after the police attacks on the 29th Istanbul LGBTI+ Pride March and the Ankara Pride March, and said: “We stand by Hüda Kaya, who never leaves us and our struggle alone for an instant.”
