Colors of Resistance hung a banner for International Transgender Day of Visibility in Izmir on 30 March.

The statement shared on their social media accounts included the following messages:

Tomorrow is the International Transgender Day of Visibility, on 31 March. We as trans+ people are standing up to centuries of cis-sexist norms. Today, our banner proudly flew over Izmir, echoing solidarity with fellow trans activists on Bayram Street, whose homes are facing unjust closure. As Turkey prepares for local elections tomorrow, we reiterate: true liberation does not come from elections, but from our continued struggle. On March 31, International Transgender Day of Visibility, our voices unite against cis-sexist oppression and call for collective action from dormitories to academia, from Bornova Street to Bayram Street, in pursuit of freedom for all trans people!”
