HDP MP Züleyha Gülüm remarked the LGBTI+ hostility of the government within the context of her speech made at the Parliament: “You attack even their existence. Down with your general morality, down with your corrupt order.”
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) İstanbul MP Züleyha Gülüm made a speech about the unlawfulness on Kobani case and violence against women and LGBTI+s at the General Assembly of the Parliament yesterday (December 6).
Remarking the unlawfulness of Kobani case Gülüm said: “Six years have passed, there has been no progress within the scope of any investigation. Suddenly, after six years our friends are arrested with the testimonies of false and secret witnesses, in fact in consequence of a conspiracy.” Gülüm also reacted against the arrest of women activists from Tevgere Jinên Azad (TJA – Free Women Movement).
“We need real justice, not male justice”
Gülüm said the following regarding the murder of Bahar Gezer:
“Women are trying to raise their voices through all kind of channels they are able to reach, they shout ‘He will kill me!’, they warn by saying ‘I’m going to end up like the murdered women’, they indicate someone by saying ‘If I die, he is in charge of my death’. However you don’t protect them despite complaints, you don’t even perform the protection order. Women murdered by the men closest to them are waiting for justice. A woman friend of ours was slaughtered in Urfa on the day when President Erdoğan went to the city, that is to say when thousands of police officers were on duty. Bahar Hezer was in her prime and she died in harness by keeping fight against male violence throughout her life. Those who served as a shield around Erdoğan with army of guards, didn’t protect Bahar and she was slaughtered. Only women? Children also receive their share, they are also subjected to the same violence. Child abuse in religious sects and dorters has reached beyond description. A six-year old girl had been espoused with a 29-year old murid of a congregation in an imam marriage; had been ‘espoused’. The girl was abused every day, the abuse was depicted her as a game, but you don’t event blush with it. We need real justice not male justice.”
“Hate rallies are being organized, you back them, they are organized with your efforts”
Emphasizing that the government attacks even the existence of LGBTI+s, Gülüm said:
“LGBTI+s have become the target of hate and violence thanks to your efforts. You attack even their existence. Let alone protecting LGBTI+s, they face the violence of your government itself and your law enforces. Hate rallies are being organized, you know, supposedly as a democratic right, we know that you back them, they are organized with your efforts.”
Remarking that LGBTI+s cannot even file a complaint when they are exposed to attack, Gülüm said: “To whom they are going to file a complaint against whom? Yet, we know that violence is used with your order.” And she added:
“There isn’t even a punishment ordered due to a hate crime among the crimes targeting LGBTI+s. On the contrary, there is a judicial system in which complainants, the ones who exercise their right to assembly and demonstration, are judged and punished. Down with your system where all kinds of the massacre, murder, rape, violence, corruption, unlawfulness, injustice and robbery are normalized, down with your general morality, down with your corrupt order. You aim to corrupt society as well, but we will not allow it. Women, LGBTI+s, children, communities, people, everyone oppressed in this country will chuck you away to the dirty place of history through struggle.”
