Dr. Aranyosi* from Bilkent University Departmant of Philosophy will give a lecture called ‘The Essential Disanalogy Between Transsexuality and Trans-ability’ on Monday, December 10.
Dr. Aranyosi* from Bilkent University Departmant of Philosophy will give a lecture called “The Essential Disanalogy Between Transsexuality and Trans-ability” on Monday, December 10. Organized by Bilkent Univiersity’s LGBT student club Renkli Düşün (Think Colorfully) and Philosophy Student, the event will be held in English.
The lecture will be based on some empirical philosophy of mind with an application to a comparison of reasons for sex change surgery and reasons for BIID-based surgery, arguing that sex change surgery is justifiable whereas the latter is not.
*Dr. Aranyosi is an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy. Before coming to Bilkent University he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Consciousness, The Australian National University. His interests lie in the following areas: philosophy of mind, metaphysics.
