Young LGBTI+ Association and Colors of Resistance Izmir urge for the hearing

Young LGBTI+ Association urged all LGBTI+ rights, women’s rights and human rights defenders to attend the hearing in order to demand justice for Ecem Seçkin with the following statements:

“We are aware that the discourses and policies of sovereign group-powers create a basis for all kinds of violence and discrimination that transgender people and sex workers are exposed to and encourage potential perpetrators. In this LGBTI+ hostile atmosphere, we continue to stand together and resist for each other. Against all kinds of threats and violence fuelled by the atmosphere of hatred, we stand with trans women. We know that solidarity keeps us alive.”

And Colors of Resistance İzmir said: “The lawyers expect that this trial could be the final hearing. That is why it is important that we gather there; it is essential to be in solidarity to show that Ecem Seçkin and none of our friends who were murdered and driven to suicide are alone.”
