Final declaration of “Problems and Solution Suggestions of Education Workshop” was released.
Education and Science Laborers Union Central Office organized the “Problems and Solution Suggestions of Education Workshop” in Ankara on January 7-8th. Problems experienced at preschool education, primary school, secondary school and high schools, vocational and technical high schools, private schools, counseling and research centers, public education centers, and suggested solutions were discussed within the scope of the workshop.
The final declaration of the workshop was released. Sexual orientation-based discrimination was also included in the declaration prepared on the basis of reports obtained from branches. Emphasizing that there is a segregation in terms gender at vocational and technical high schools, the union told the followings:
“Vocational and technical Anatolian high schools creates a segregation in terms of gender, both girls and boys are directed to schools with fields according to the gender roles assigned to them. In the vocational and technical education system, where all kind of segregation is experienced intensely, sexual orientation of individuals is disregarded and a completely uniform, sexist and male – dominated approach is imposed.”
