HDP members were the ones who brought the LGBTI+ agenda, their demand of right and problems, to the Parliament.

University Queer Research and LGBTI+ Solidarity Association – UniQueer /UniKuir released its fifth bulletin within the context of the monitoring and auditing activities at the Parliament in terms of LGBTI+ rights.

“LGBTI+s were on the agenda of the Parliament, which took a long break due to the earthquake this month, in terms of rights-based approach just three times during the active days. HDP members were the ones who brought the LGBTI+ agenda, their demand of right and problems, to the Parliament.

LGBTI+s were not mentioned within the scope of parliamentary discussions regarding distance education at universities and the earthquake experienced on February 6, even though they were affected by the issues.”

In February at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

- LGBTI+s took place in 2 of 4 plenary sessions in terms of rights-based approach.

 - LGBTI+s were hostilized in 1 of 11 group meetings.

- Demand of LGBTI+ rights and their problems were brought to the agenda in 1 of 61 press conferences.

- LGBTI+s were not included in 3 commission meetings.

- LGBTI+s were not included within the context of 54 bills.

- LGBTI+s were not included in 783 written parliamentary questions.

- LGBTI+s were not included in 40 parliamentary research questions.

Whereas…

- There were discussions closely related with LGBTI+s at the Parliament: Law on Higher Education, the amount of scholarships for university students, equality units, the February 6 earthquake, HPV vaccine…

- In addition, distance education at universities, the case against 2nd Ankara Pride March, effects of the earthquake for LGBTI+s and the discrimination faced at the earthquake region were on the agenda of LGBTI+s in February.
