The International Memory and History Conference organized by Kaos GL Association started on September 27th with a workshop in Izmir.

The conference that set off with the call of “Maybe the story that is being told is your story too. Maybe we are tracing something together, maybe we sang songs told stories to leave a trace. With respects to the ones that we walked together, to our separating paths, and to lives that gushes from letters…” will continue till September 29.

How did it all start?

Yıldız Tar of Kaos GL in the opening speech of the workshop said, "About the question of how did the issue of archive-history surfaced; I have been in Kaos GL for 6 years, we say we have written history for 6 years, but we couldn't find a way to make the experiences visible, and finally 3 years ago we were set out with oral history,", describing how the idea of the conference came about.

"The history of LGBTI+, both personally and socially, is a fragile history, you create your own alternative history out of exclusion. All experiences become different" Tar said, describing the venues concentrated on, in the preparations for the conference.

The workshop, which precedes the International Memory and History Conference, will continue to trace memory studies in Turkey.
