İrfan Değirmenci, who announced his candidacy for parliamentary nomination from Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP), spoke during his party meeting held to prepare for general elections, in Ankara. İrfan Değirmenci, who is known as a journalist and resigned from his job at Halk TV, said: “Keep fighting! The history will be written by Hande Kader and those who were burned to death. LGBTI+s will go down in history!”

The Ankara preparation meeting for general elections of Workers’ Party of Turkey was held at Chamber of Civil Engineers on April 2.

İrfan Değirmenci, known as a journalist and member of TİP Yenimahalle District Organization, gave a speech. Speaking of his youth years in Ankara, Değirmenci said that Ankara meant to love and struggle for them.

Having said “I was fired due to saying ‘No’ to those who consider everyone as hostile” Değirmenci underlined that he was able to overcome the difficulties experienced during and after the referendum with struggle and he was a press laborer.

Pointing out that LGBTI+s, constantly targeted by the government, were not alone Değirmenci said: “Keep fighting! The history will be written by Hande Kader and those who were burned to death. History will write LGBTI+s!” After these statements, applause and slogans rose from the hall.

Following İrfan Değirmeci’s speech, TİP Ankara Provincial Head Tuncay Çelen pinned the badge of TİP. Çelen concluded the meeting with the following statement: “We have always fought and will keep fighting. Since we are right, we will win!”
