İstanbul Kadıköy (a district in İstanbul) City Council LGBTI+ Assembly started to hold meetings once again after a long time. Assembly made its first meeting on 10th of July and currently shaping its activity plan.
Cem Öztürk, a member of the assembly, has told about their first meeting and what will be done from now on to KaosGL.org:
“Attention to our first call for an open meeting was exciting. We have made an effective meeting with the LGBTI+’s and volunteers from non-governmental organizations from Kadıköy. Re-assembly of the LGBTI+ Assembly showed us how much Kadıköy needed this. We are on a planning process right now, we are getting ready for a general assembly meeting to be held in September-October. Our main agenda consists of the Activity Plan for 2019-2020 and the changes to be done in our activity circular. We are developing projects to enable LGBTI+’s in Kadıköy to enjoy municipality services equally. In this process, we will be working in cooperation with many institutions, primarily with the Municipality of Kadıköy Social Equality Division. Our objective is to further improve LGBTI+ solidarity in Kadıköy.”
Kadıköy City Council LGBTI+ Assembly hold its second meeting on 27th of July at Kadıköy City Council. Activity Plan for 2019-2020 was discussed in the meeting.
