Kaos GL Association announced road map for its upcoming work

 

The first officially recognized LGBTI association in Turkey will specifically focus on LGBTI trainings for educators, how LGBTI educators are affected by employment laws and strategic litigation. Here are the more details for each field:

 

 

Kaos GL will continue its LGBTI trainings for teachers first of all in Balikesir, Urfa, Bursa, Dersim and Ankara. Organized in cooperation with the Education and Science Workers’ Union (Egitim-Sen), the trainings aim for raising awareness on how to create a non-heteronormative learning environment.

 

The association will hold an education forum in Ankara on October 25-26 in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. The forum will focus on the effects of neo-liberal conservative politics in the education system.

 

Kaos GL will organize trade union meetings in Eskisehir, Adana, Izmir and Ankara to widen its network among trade union members. The meetings aim for transforming trade unions’ position on the issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, and encourage them to take necessary actions to protect their LGBTI members.

 

The association will organize an Employment Symposium in Ankara in December to discuss the increasing flexibility and sub-contractors in education system and how LGBTI teachers are affected by these.

 

 

Kaos GL will continue organizing thematic workshops for lawyers in next three years to widen its lawyers’ network to deal with LGBTI-related court cases. The legal problems of LGBTI people and opportunities will be published in a report in December.
