Green Left Party İstanbul MP Kezban Konukçu noted that the İstanbul LGBTI+ Pride March was an effective and uplifting action.
MP Konukçu wrote on the economic crisis and the responsibility of socialists in her column in Yeni Yaşam Newspaper. Konukçu also referred to the İstanbul LGBTI+ Pride March:
“We should never abandon the street in this process. We have been witnessing attacks on even most democratic actions for a long while. However, we need to think about our methods of taking to the street and develop creative solutions. The attitude and attack of law enforcement forces may be demoralizing in protests where time and place are announced in advance. The action organized by LGBTI+s within the scope of the İstanbul Pride March, was effective, uplifting and motivating this year. The action which wasn’t announced in advance, initiated and ended on their own volition, and that the security forces were unable to catch up… Each oppressive period creates its own ‘pirate’ method over time and experience.”
