General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories responded to Kaos GL's request for information. It claimed that LGBTI+ students are not discriminated against and equal service is provided.

KYK left unanswered the question whether LGBTI+ activist students were dismissed from dormitories Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

The General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories of the Ministry of Youth and Sports responded to Kaos GL's request for information. In its response, the Directorate General claimed that approximately 1 million students are not discriminated against and are provided equal service within the framework of the Regulation on Dormitory Services and by observing Constitutional rights.

The Directorate stated that ‘measures are taken for the safety and peace of all students staying in dormitories’ without saying ‘LGBTI+’.

The Directorate responded to the Association's question "Is a special service provided to ensure access to psychological support services for LGBTI+ students staying in dormitories affiliated to the KYGM? ’ with the following statements:

‘Psychologists and social workers working in Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports assist students who apply and need support.’

It was noteworthy that the Directorate left the question ‘Are students who peacefully express their demands for rights by using their constitutional rights or due to their activism in the field of LGBTI+ rights dismissed from dormitories?’ unanswered.

KaosGL.org had previously brought to the agenda that LGBTI+ activist students were tried to be expelled from dormitories on the pretext of ‘general morality’.

What did Kaos GL ask?

1.Is there a special policy or regulation to ensure LGBTI+ students' right to safe and equal accommodation in dormitories affiliated to the DGMM?

2.Are there any trainings on LGBTI+ issues provided to KYGM staff? Can you share information about the content of these trainings? Are there any awareness raising activities?

3. Are students who peacefully express their demands for their rights by using their constitutional rights or due to their activism in the field of LGBTI+ rights dismissed from dormitories?

4.Is a special service provided to ensure access to psychological support services for LGBTI+ students staying in dormitories affiliated to the DGMM? Are there experts trained in this field in psychological counselling units? What is the content of these trainings?
