On December 4, the power of sports and solidarity for LGBTI+'s was emphasized at the launch.
The launch of the sports club QLUB took place on December 4th. The launch started with QLUB members sharing what sports and QLUB mean to them. QLUB members emphasized the importance of the safe space they created to come together and express themselves.
Selin Yıldız made a presentation titled “How Did We Start?” at the event. In speech, Yıldız stated that she has been a sports activist since was a child and that had a great struggle to play soccer. “I thought I was alone in the world, but thanks to QLUB, we had the opportunity to meet like-minded people and playmates,” Yıldız said, emphasizing that the main purpose of QLUB is to bring LGBTI+’s together and enable them to benefit from the transformative power of sports.
The event continued with a quiz competition led by Nesli Uras. In addition, various products produced in QLUB's flag workshops were shared with the participants.
QLUB continues to work to contribute to LGBTI+'s building a healthier and stronger community through sports and social activities. The club has managed to reach a total of 60 members in different branches in Istanbul and online platforms.
QLUB continues to lay the foundations for a more visible sports culture for LGBTI+’s. They support each other and strengthen their solidarity by playing sports in branches such as volleyball, hiking and football.
