It turned out that the Institution mailed the report in question on 19 March and the document reached to the court a day after the trial on 26 March, Tuesday. A previous report in parallel with the new one had been given for Ayri by Manisa Psychiatric Hospital.

The suit had been tried for the ninth time on 25 March, Monday in İzmir 7th High Criminal Court and had been postponed to 22 June due to the delay of the expected report. The court board accepted the intervention demands of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and Black Pink Triangle LGBTT Association.

We interviewed on the subject with a member of Black Pink Triangle, Erdem Gür and Gür said: “Perpetrators in woman, gay and trans murders usually try to pass “criminally insane” by using current male-dominant system’s tolerance for such violence. Similarly, by saying things like “cheated me”, “tried to rob me”, “offered anal sex” or “attacked me first”, they try to mitigate the penalty and blame on the victims who are not even alive. Furthermore, they succeed in mitigating the charges by just behaving themselves in court. Unfortunately, we know that even the police recommends the attackors acting that way. If we really want to struggle against the murders of women and LGBTs, we must primarily get rid of the legislation which prevents justice and the dicriminatory legislation which legitimizes the male violence and have deep roots even among public authorities.” Gürsu added that they expect the new legislation which would recognize aggravating circumstances in similar hate crimes to be considered in the parliament.

Besides being charged with 3 times aggravated imprisonment for life due to an intentional triple homicide, Hamdi Ayri is charged with 46 years of imprisonment, 45 for armed robbery and 1 year for using an unregistered firearm.   (Murat Köylü/kaosgl.org)
