The Supreme Council of Radio and Television (RTÜK) of Turkey fined FOX Life channel to show Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 because “inappropriate display of two elderly men.”

The Supreme Council of Radio and Television (RTÜK) of Turkey fined FOX Life TV channel. Council, imposed a fine to stop the screening of 9-1-1 for 3 times.

Anadolu News Agency announced the reasoning of the fine as, “the inappropriate display of 2 elderly men is against national and moral values of society, public morality, the principle on protection of family”. The reasoning of the fine also included, “to show gay couples normal”.

Council is known for homophobia!

The Supreme Council is known for its homophobic and discriminatory attitude towards LGBTI+ people.

Last year the council has applied administrative fines to the video clip of the song "Secrets" from P!nk. RTÜK fine the video broadcasted in AS TV channel by saying that "Homosexuality has been featured in erotic dance figures, the video is broadcasted in time that children and young people can watch and this situation can adversely affect children and young people."

RTÜK had also gave a monetary penalty of 13,600 liras for the Emmy award-winning film "The Normal Heart", which was broadcasted after 01:00 hours on the Moviemax Premier channel on Digiturk in 2015 with the sign "+18".

Council had also fined TV series “Modern Family”, saying that “The TV series which include gay couples supports young people’s will to have a child without getting married”.
