“We are too sorrowful and too angry. We will bring those who left Begüm and their family and thousands of people to die, to account!”
METU LGBTIQAA+ Solidarity, posted a message for METU psychology student Begüm Kırık, who lost their life by being trapped in the wreckage during the earthquake.
Stating that they had demanded help many times for Begüm who had waited for search and rescue team for days in Antakya the Solidarity said: “We are too sorrowful and too angry.”
The whole text of the message is as following:
“We lost our friend Begüm Kırık, with whom we were shoulder to shoulder and conducted a struggle together.
We told many times, we demanded help for days for Begüm.
If the necessary measures had been taken, if they had not left to die despite the voice coming from the wreckage, if the adequate equipment had been provided, Begüm and thousands of others would have been alive and would have been among us.
We are too sorrowful and too angry. We will bring those who left Begüm and their family and thousands of people to die, to account! Your determination to struggle and your strength of solidarity are always with us, rest in peace Begüm.”
